Weston Ponzi schemer’s luxury items up for auction

April 23, 2011

Hope everyone is enjoying Easter 2011!  After the Easter services and the Egg Hunts with the kids, this little snippet of information might interest you.

SunSentinel.com reports that Weston swindler Sean N. Healy lived like a rock star, well he did at least for a year.  He went on a spending spree and burnt his way through more than $10 million of ill-gotten money.

How does this interest you I hear you ask?  Well it seems there is a lot more than just homes for sale close to our Towngate community.  Here in Pembroke Pines, in a warehouse, you will find a treasure trove of luxury items, including stacks of Versace china in their original boxes, an impressive collection of signed sports and music memorabilia along with blackjack, craps and roulette tables.

Now that you have found that perfect dream home in Towngate, you might like to pick up a few items to decorate.  Next Wednesday, you could walk away with any one of those luxury items as they are auctioned off to the public.  Attention ladies!  Included in the items being auctioned off are four diamond-encrusted ladies watches designed by socialite Paris Hilton.  Not your style?  Worth a look out of curiosity perhaps.

The auction will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Moecker Auctions, 6861 SW 196th Ave., Suite 201, Pembroke Pines.  Items can be inspected at that location from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday and after 9 a.m. on the day of the auction.  Bids also will be accepted online.  Anyone interested can contact Moecker Auctions at 954-252-2887.

So before you spend all your money, let’s review what the market has been doing for Towngate, Florida homes.

Presently we have 28 active listings ranging in size from 3 to 5 bedrooms.  The average listing price is an affordable $276,679.  And for you bargain hunters out there, several listing have had a reduction in their listing price.  On average, we have seen a fall of 9.6% with two properties going against the tide with large increases in listing price.

Looking at the year to date sales we see a total closings of 11 properties with 3 of those being in the last 30 days.

Compare this to last month’s market update and you will notice the number of active listings has increased and the average listing price has fallen.
